Southampton Women’s Football Club

For the 2020/21 season, Southampton Women’s Football Club of the FA Women’s National League Division One South West (Tier 4), will play their home games at Arlebury Park. 

They celebrate 50 years in women’s football this season and as the first winners of the Women’s FA Cup winners, Southampton Women’s will now call Alresford home as they push for promotion to the National League Southern Premier.

Established in 1970, making them both the oldest and most successful women’s team in Southampton, winning the Women’s FA Cup eight times between 1971 and 1982.

As Hampshire League Champions at the end of the 15/16 season, the club was promoted to the Southern Region Premier League where the team achieved the league and cup double the 2016/17 season and had successful cup runs at in the County Cup and FA Cup.

Back to back promotions for the Firsts meant promotion to the formerly named FA Women’s Premier League in 2017-18, whilst the Reserves won the Hampshire County Women’s League Division 1 as undefeated champions and moved in to the Southern Region. The first u16s team were league runners-up too

The team has spent two years in tier four now known as the FA Women’s National League South West. and have come close to winning promotion to tier three finishing second in consecutive season and losing five league games over the two seasons.

In May 2019 Aaron Smith was named manager and Lee Hurrell also joined the team as Smith’s assistant manager after they had a successful campaign with Chichester City in 2018/19 finishing third in the National League Southern Premier.
