Women’s National League Football Coming to Alresford

Published by clubbuzz on

As a growing pillar in the community for the Town of Alresford, today we are delighted to confirm that Alresford Town FC will be bringing National League football to the area.

For the 2020/21 season, Southampton Women’s Football Club of the FA Women’s National League Division One South West (Tier 4), will play their home games at Arlebury Park.

They celebrate 50 years in women’s football this season and as the first winners of the Women’s FA Cup winners, Southampton Women’s will now call Alresford home as they push for promotion to the National League Southern Premier.

“To me, this is a great relationship for the club and community,” Alresford Town F.C. Chairman Craig Scriven said. “In building pathways and opportunities for players in the local area, having a women’s team in the community is something that is essential for young girls to watch, aspire to and envision themselves playing for one day.”

The men’s senior team and Southampton Women’s Football Club will have a close working relationship as it relates to the community. The women’s team will be part of the community open event and will be cobranded with the men’s senior team, which will help create multiple opportunities for both clubs.

Southampton Women’s Chairman Simon Earwicker said: “We are excited by the opportunity to bring women’s football to the Alresford and forge a close partnership with Alresford Town FC. They are an ambitious club and have shown a clear commitment to supporting the growth of women’s football in the region. We look forward to working closely with them over the coming season and calling Alresford home.”

Part of the alignment will be joint promotion across our media channels of both club’s news and progress during the coming year.

We look forward to announcing the first Southampton Women’s game to be played at Arlebury Park.
