Grow The Game

Alresford Town Youth FC are on the hunt for the next generation of female players after receiving a £3000 Grow the Game grant.

The scheme, which is funded by The Football Association [The FA] and delivered by the Football Foundation, will enable Alresford Town Youth FC to create two completely new girls teams, in the younger age groups, providing a significant boost to female participatory opportunities in Alresford.

The Grow the Game scheme sees grants of £1,500 awarded to community football clubs wishing to create new teams, especially amongst under-represented groups.

This year, funding was made available for clubs looking to create new female and disability football teams, which can assist towards the costs of FA coaching courses; FA league affiliation costs; referees’ fees; first aid kits; football kit and equipment.

Charles Ramseyer, Alresford Town Youth FC Chairman said: “This is a fantastic scheme by the FA and the Football Foundation which gives small community clubs like ours the opportunity to offer football to an ever increasing number of girls. With the current surge in interest, I can see that within only 2 or 3 seasons we will have a girls team in every age group, which will be an awesome achievement and a real asset to the local community.”
